How to reach real care
Short answer: Prevant Care is an independent educational resource and can't give personal medical advice, answer health questions, or arrange care. The good news is that the care you're looking for is real and reachable — here's where to turn.
We've kept this honest on purpose. There's no contact form here pretending to connect you to a doctor, because that's not what this site is. If you have a question about your own health, the people who can actually help are below.
If you think you may be having a medical emergency — such as chest pain or pressure, sudden weakness or trouble speaking, severe shortness of breath, fainting, or any severe or sudden symptom — call your local emergency number right away (for example 911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 in much of Europe) or go to the nearest emergency department.
Where to get preventive care
Start with a primary-care clinician
A family doctor, internist, nurse practitioner or physician associate is the natural home for preventive care — check-ups, screening schedules, your numbers, and ongoing questions. If you don't have one, your insurer, local health service, or a nearby clinic can help you register.
Ask for a preventive visit
When you book, say you'd like a check-up or a "preventive" or "well" visit and to talk about which screenings you're due for. Bring your family history and any recent results.
Use trusted public resources
For reliable, free background reading, the organizations in our Sources section — the CDC, USPSTF, AHA, ADA, NHLBI and Mayo Clinic — publish plain-language information and tools for the public.
